Beam Splitter (Metallic & Dielectric)

A beam splitter is an optical device used to divide a beam into two or more separate beams. It will reflect a portion of incident energy and transmit the remaining energy. They can be spectrally selective or neutral. This metallic coating gives approximately 30% transmittance & reflectance at 45 Deg. for un-polarized light, 40% is absorbed. This coating is usable from 0.2 to over 2 microns.
Beam Splitter (Dielectric)

These hi-efficiency coatings can be designed to provide a very wide range of reflectance and transmittance ratios for single wavelengths and polarization states. They are wavelength dependent. This type of a beam splitter will produce multiple beams in both reflection and transmission from multiple reflections between the surfaces.
